Pastor
Carol Rawls Davis was born March 13, 1950 in New York City and was later reared in Pompano Beach, Florida. Carol
confessed hope in Christ at an early age at Mount Calvary
Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Samuel Collier. During her life, she was a member of Beulah Baptist Church, Green Pastures Christian Ministries
and Light of the World Christian Tabernacle International.
Upon completion of high school, Pastor Davis moved to Atlanta ,
GA to attend Spelman College where she received her B.A. degree in education. She continued her post graduate studies in this field at the University
of Georgia and received her Masters Degree in Early Childhood
Education. At the time of her death, Carol was enrolled at Oral Roberts University pursuing a doctoral degree in educational
leadership with a concentration in post secondary administration
with emphasis in curriculum and design for post secondary schools.
In
1972 she met and fell in love with the late Deacon Michael Davis and they were married on August 8, 1974. Their
union produced three wonderful
children: Mark, Chris and Chrislyn.
As an educator Pastor Davis had the opportunity
to touch children’s lives in such an extraordinary way by working in the Atlanta and DeKalb County Public school systems. In
1984 Carol was led by God to leave the public school system and educate the whole child, physically, mentally and spiritually. Christian education was the means of accomplishing this desire.
After two years of working at Green Pastures Christian
Academy, Carol was driven to open her own Christian school. In 1988, Miracle Early Learning Center became
a reality. God commanded Carol to “rescue His children from hell’s fire.”
As an obedient servant, she started this
school in the basement of her home and later
merged her school with Beulah Baptist Christian Academy, and also established the Light of the Word Christian Academy.
Even though Carol enjoyed working for these ministries,
she still had a strong desire to fulfill her God given vision.
In
1994 Miracle Early Learning Center reopened its doors and the Excelsior School was started. In 1995 the
Excelsior School was renamed Anointed Word Christian Schools International, which still exists today under the leadership of Pastor
Davis’ daughter Chrislyn M. Davis as administrator.
Pastor Davis was licensed and
ordained into the ministry in 1984 under the pastorate of the late Pastor Ronald E. Gunby, Green Pastures Christian Ministries. In January of
1986, Carol was summoned by God to the office of pastor. In September of 1995, after a prophetic word through Apostle Olivia Sharp of United Full Gospel Revival Center, Pastor
Davis answered that call. Two months later on November 12, 1995, Anointed Word Christian Ministries International was officially started and its dedication service was held as the
Atlanta Airport Marriott Hotel with 250 people in attendance
and seven charter members. After battling cancer, Pastor Davis departed this life on January 2, 2009. Her works will always be remembered. Anointed Word Christian
Ministries International, Inc. continues to move forward under the leadership of Pastor Dee Jerry Surry, Sr.
