Pastor Dee Jerry Surry, Sr.
is a true man of God who has the love of God in his life. His passion is to serve God with all of his heart,
then to serve the people of God. His daily prayer is that God’s will be done in his life, and that
God will use him to the fullest. His motto for life is based on Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first
the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Pastor Surry was born in Jackson, Georgia and reared in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Berean Jr.
Academy. A.F. Herndon School and graduated from H. M. Turner High School. At the age of twenty-three he
was called to preach the Word of the Lord. On July 3, 1977, he preached his trial sermon at Hunter Hill
First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia where he served as Youth Director and 2nd Vice President of the National Baptist
Association of the Young Adult Department. Pastor Surry was ordained December 31, 1978, at Mount Zion Baptist
Church in Decatur, Georgia and was installed as Assistant Pastor and served eight years in this position and one year as Acting
Pastor. His commitment to serve includes counselor for Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Pastor for
Senior Citizen Association at Cosby. A. Sphere High-rise counselor for three years for death row inmates
at Jackson Diagnostic Center and also served as prayer partner phone counselor for Trinity Broadcast Network, and as Senior
Pastor of the Traveling Prayer Band Church of Faith and Deliverance from 1985 to 2002. He has been fortunate to render service
on two mission trips to Jamaica and on the streets of Atlanta and LaGrange, Georgia. On each mission trip God was glorified,
souls were saved, and people were healed.
Pastor Surry has been
married to Elder Vetress Surry for thirty-five years and they have three children. Dee Jerry, Jr., Anjuli
Nicole Fletcher and Jonathan David Surry. They have been blessed with seven living grandchildren. His desire is to reach as many souls
for the Lord as possible with the Word of God and that all men will receive Christ as their personal Savior.
